PLAN: East Boston – Neighborhood-wide Planning and Zoning Process
Led the effort to update and simplify East Boston’s zoning regulations through the PLAN: East Boston process. This initiative identified strategic opportunities to preserve, enhance, and grow the neighborhood while introducing bold improvements to the transportation network, as well as establishing urban design guidelines, recommendations for climate resiliency, and support for small businesses. The result was a more predictable and responsive zoning framework that yields both community priorities and responsible development. Interested in learning more? PLAN: Charlestown – A Comprehensive Neighborhood Vision
Developed and advanced the city’s first fully integrated zoning and planning initiative for Charlestown, unlocking more than 18 million square feet of development potential while delivering resources, amenities, and infrastructure improvements shaped by community input. Residents played a key role in advocating for diverse housing options, expanded open space, historic preservation tools, and multimodal transportation enhancements—all reflected in the plan’s final framework. This process also introduced innovative engagement tools, including a custom-designed Comic Book to make planning concepts more accessible.
